When Socrates and Plato meet yoga and meditation in Athens

Awakening your higher mind and bringing your body into balance with beautiful nature and ancient history

Modern Western life poses many stressful and restless moments. In a culture with such a strong emphasis on mental chatter, it happens quite often that we feel lost in worries, confusion, and find ourselves disconnected from our bodies and from life.

Oftentimes we become worried, confused, and lose our clarity and the ability to respond to life’s challenges from a place of true wisdom. We do not live in synchronicity with our whole body-mind-intelligence, but at the expense of our bodies, not using the higher potentials of our mind and spirit. And this of course can lead to a feeling of powerlessness.

We invite you to awaken your mind-intelligence, to broaden your spirit, and to bring your body into balance. The retreat will show how philosophy can bring us toward a deeper life and a deeper way of experiencing it, with the view to develop a deeper way to experience our consciousness.

For an intense, transformative and mind-awakening experience, we will be combining the wisdom from two worlds, which happen to have much more in common than it might seem: philosophy and spirituality.

It is actually one of the most famous philosophers of our times, Jürgen Haberman, who has acknowledged that the urge for healing, transformation, and reconnection to something bigger than ourselves is greater than ever. At the same time he states that nowadays philosophy has become powerless and disconnected from real life.

In the retreat we will discover:

There was a time when philosophizing still meant asking questions in a way that lead to a deeper insight; that helps experiencing a higher, purely spiritual reality—and transforming oneself in this experience. Indeed, Socrates was such a master of spiritual inquiry. He asked questions in a way that gradually rid the listeners of the ideas and opinions they already had. This opening up to the unknown would then lead to deeper revelations, as it awakens the mind and spirit.

And then there are the Eastern wisdom traditions. There is the world of yoga and meditation. And they too developed different methods for inner transformation, for balancing and awakening the body, mind, and spirit.

We will dive deep into this transformative and awakening world while in the most fruitful environments close to the ancient sites of Greek temples and the beautiful seaside of the Athenian Riviera.

With the philosopher and spiritual teacher Shai Tubali and with the mindful meditation expert Dr Natasha Papazafeiropoulou

Shai Tubali will be analyzing and working with texts from Phaidon, Phaidrus and simple zion. The philosophers that will be mentioned are the ones combining philosophy and mysticism. The discussions will be about self-knowledge, beauty, love and death.

The retreat is designed to:

  • Awaken your mind-intelligence, beyond the restless mental chatter
  • Broaden your spirit and reconnect you to the true nature of your being
  • Bring the body back into balance
  • Bring us to a deeper life and a deeper way of experience
  • Lead us to a deeper experience of our consciousness
  • Enable us to fully meet life from an awakened and aligned state of the spirit-mind-body complex
  • Experience a unique way to combine Western philosophy with Eastern meditation practices in a practical way

Enjoying an awakened connection to your higher mind, spirit, and body does not mean that you cannot face any challenges and moments of doubts. But it means that you have the right insight, clarity, and understanding to deal with them. And that in essence you stay centered and present—while acting and responding to life.

Retreat structure

Every single element of the retreat, from the talks and practices to the nutrition, is designed to support your spiritual process in the best possible way:

With two inspiring and transformative talks per day Shai will enable us to experience how philosophy can bring us to a deeper life and a deeper way of experience.
A daily yoga session that brings flexibility, vitality, and flow to awaken your body’s wisdom, and also to balance emotional and mental activity.
Daily meditation practices with Dr Natasha Papazafeiropoulou to create body awareness and presence through the power of mindfulness. In addition practices of interpersonal mindfulness and group reflection on the mediation as a way of living.
A visit to the Temple of Poseidon—one of Athens’ most powerful ancient sites
Practices in nature and with the sea
Including a vegan, organic, nourishing menu that is carefully designed to support the body’s processes. Fresh, vital and colorful food—with raw ingredients—to strengthen the immune system during the retreat and support the emergence of a supreme state of health.
